Objective
The objective of creature marks is to graphically interpret an assigned
creature using fundamental elements of design and to communicate a set
number of unique physical, behavioral, and personality traits. Explore ways
to retain meanings and qualities of a natural form while translating it into a
graphic language. Additionally, become aware of how form can be pushed
to extremes of expressive abstraction when progressively and credibly
derived from the natural source.

Research and Guides
After working on sketches, I was struggling to get the dimensions of the gorilla's body to look accurate, so after putting in hours trying to make it work, I decided it would be best to switch animals.
Trying Out Something New
After struggling with the gorilla's body shape and being under a time constraint, I chose an animal that I would have an easier time with. The new animal I chose was a coati.
Coatis are agile, opportunistic omnivores related to raccoons that live throughout Central and South America and parts of the southwestern United States. They are known for their long, flexible snouts, strong claws, and ringed, semi-prehensile tails, which help them forage and climb. Coatis eat insects, fruit, small vertebrates, and other foods, and females typically live in social groups while adult males are solitary. Although adaptable, some coati species face threats from deforestation, agriculture, hunting, and habitat loss

Form Analysis Interpretive Phrase
I wanted to choose a phrase to embody the characteristic of the coati. I explored a few different words, but the ones I knew I wanted to use were Mexico, masked, bandit, and cheeky.
